Sehsucht – Mercedes ‘Words’

Loving this work by Sehsucht who is now being managed by Rokkit – a stunning car journey through a soundscape of words in magnificent monochrome. It’s well worth a watch in higher quality so go to the Rokkit site for a better version than the dodgy youtube quality one I found here.

Fake iPhone Commercial

This fake iPhone commercial made me chuckle. It’s all to clear how careful you have to be these days with all this social network information floating around about your life. But clearly there are times when your little white lies catch up with you and cause problems in your relationship. Well now your iPhone comes to the rescue. At least that’s the case with this spoof iPhone ad featuring fake iPhone apps. It is very tongue in cheek and does highlight the value of some of the iPhone apps being made. It does seem like there is an app for everything these days.

The smallest advert in the world?

Ok I’ve made some small ads in my time. Microsoft has some crazy little buttons it likes to scatter on its sites on occasion. But this takes the biscuit. 16×16 pixels! Ok what they’ve done is create some arcade games and put the game inside the tiny box you’re used to seeing to the left of your browser bar. It’s called a favicon and is usually there to show your logo. The fact that they’ve put a game in this space is a incredible feat of engineering. Or at least it would be had it not been done before. The eagle eyes amongst you will remember my previous post on Defender of the Favicon. Are there any original ideas left out there? And yes it’s an advert. For the incredibly small Smart car. It’s a great idea in that it is amazing what you can fit into a small space. So all in all it’s a great campaign. Just a bit weird they’re shouting this loudly about their incredible feat in designing this ad.

Cadbury’s Creme Egg Splat Game

This is one of the first interactive bus-stop adverts I’ve seen. Here for Cadbury’s Creme Egg and it is a goo splat game. Your task seems simply to splat as many eggs as you can. Ok gameplay is fairly limited but the idea is simple enough and a great way to promote your brand. I’m hoping to see more of this type of interactive display in future and who knows maybe get involved in making one. Would be cool if you could hook into the bus time system so the game would know how long you have before your bus arrives.

There’s probably no God

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or don’t live in London) you’ll have seen the recent ad campaign from the Athiest society that plastered London with posters on the sides of buses and on the tube. I thought it was a really fresh idea and great thing to see. Of course there was the inevitable backlash from the Christian groups who responded with their own posters. But what I found fascinating was the internet’s own ironic backlash by providing people with their own way of creating their own slogans. And you can create your own by going to the Bus Slogan generator. I’d love you to send me your creations and I’ll be sure to post them here.

Here’s the original…

Here’s the Christian response….

And here’s my generated bus ad…

Goodbye Bush

The art of well placed media. Check out the ad at the bottom of the page. They must’ve been aching to use this slot for ages. Definitely a play on the classic t-shirt “Good Bush, Bad Bush” (if you’ve seen it you’ll know the visuals). In case you don’t know Veet is a hair removal cream (previously known as Immac).

Dance off

The cynical amongst us will say that this has been done before with many a flash mob taking over a London station for an impromptu silent disco. And it is after all an advert for T-Mobile. But for me there is something special when people break into song and dance in ordinary life. Once more with feeling?

Audi Q5 – Perfectly Synchronised

A great ad for Audi here by Heimat (Berlin). I’m loving the use of tiles here to show energy and movement. It’s a really expressive way to emote the power the car. It kind of reminds me of this really cool wooden mirror whereby a tiny camera watches for movement in front of the screen and triggers the wooden tiles to flick based on the change in front, thus giving the illusion that there is a wooden mirror. I found the link and included it below.
